Alkire Eharp Valco 50's Vintage Lap Steel with CaseAlkire
For sale is a beautiful 50's vintage 10 string lap steel under the Alkire name. Made by Valco, this was the second iteration of the 10-string Hawaiian style electric guitar which was designed by it's namesake Eddie Alkire, previously being manufactured by Epiphone in the 1930's and 40's. Alkirewas America's most recognized performer, teacher, and innovator of the twentieth-century Hawaiian guitar. The 10-strings can accommodate many tunings, but being the virtuoso player that he was, Alkire used his own nearly chromatic tuning (E-C#-B-A-G#-G-F#-F-E-C#). Within this tuning he used the high 6 strings for melody and the low 4 strings for bass. This instrument has an incredibly glassy and powerful tone, with vibrant and vivacious cleans that cut through any mix while remaining full bodied. Cosmetically in good condition for its age, there are a few nicks and scratches on the body and some oxidation, but is functioning perfectly. Included with the steel is the original telescoping legs and hardshell case. This is a truly mystifying 10-string lap steel that will satisfy the needs of all from beginners looking for something new to experts.
