Antares Hollowbody Les Paul Copy, JapanAntares
This is one unusual guitar, but hey, unusual is the name of the game here at the Birdhouse. This is an Antares branded Les Paul copy. This one was likely manufactured in Japan in the late 1970's to early 1980's. I'll do my best to describe the build construction as information on these seems to be close to non-existent. It appears to utilize a medium "C" shaped maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard set into a hollow maple body with a spruce top. The hardware is typical LP fare with a tune-o-matic style bridge, 3 way switch, individual volume and tone controls and a pair of humbuckers. There is some wear and tear commensurate with the guitar's age. There's chips, small dings, impressions, finish dimples, etc. There's also some light fret wear evident. The switch tip and one strap button is missing and the tuners have been swapped out for Schallers. Build quality is quite good and this Antares has a great looking sunburst finish with bound "F" holes for a real classy appearance. Total weight is 5 lb. 14 oz. Is you'd expect from the materials and construction, it's a very resonant guitar with a strong, loud acoustic tone. This is a very unique, professional quality instrument.
