Handcrafted by local luthier, Kevin Michael Clark, the Breinnivere is a study in elite level craftsmanship and tonewood selection. Kevin Clark cut his teeth working for Ovation guitars and now his instruments have become the choice of world class guitarists such as Mike Mushok of Staind. This 2016 Breinnivere Slim is an A-Wedge contour back design with a cutaway for unimpeded upper fret access. Weighing in at 4 lb. 8 oz., construction materials read like a "who's who" of high end instrument lumber; quilted maple back and sides, Lutz spruce top, laminated 5 piece figured maple and padauk neck and a macassar ebony fingerboard. Binding and rosette is a combination of quilted maple and padauk. Of course, all the beautiful woods in the world mean nothing if the guitar doesn't perform up to it's impressive pedigree. And perform it does! Playability is sublime with a low, smooth action that imparts a very high end, velvety feel. Finger picking, flat picking, bending and chording are all effortless on this guitar. The tone is warm and lush with a bit of laid back elasticity to the notes. The overall warmth does not come at the sacrifice of clarity as the treble response is sweet, clear and articulate. There is very minimal evidence of play wear. There is some very minor finish swirls that are common from handling and easy playing as well as a couple of very minor, very hard to detect impressions. This is likely due to the paper thin finish. This instrument includes it's original hard shell case. The organic feel and superlative tone associated with a quality built, hand made acoustic are prevalent from the moment you pick this one up.
