Burns Orbit Three 60w Solid State Transistor 3x10" Combo Guitar AmplifierBurns
For sale is a super cool early solid state amplifier from Burns London. Known for their "mass produced one-offs" that found their way into the hands of musicians like Elvis Presley, Jimmy Page, and Hank Marvin of The Shadows, the company also manufactured amplifiers such as the Orbit series. These were early solid state guitar amplifiers which came in a variety of configurations. This model, the Orbit Three, features three 10" Orbital speakers that were made by Elac. The amplifier has tremolo and reverb for the first channel as well as a 6 way filter selector for the bass eq that gives a variety of tones. This amp is pure Brit sound, and when you play it your transported back to mid 60's London, before Marshall stacks ruled the stage. The reverb is rich and sweet but the signal drops quite a bit when the tremolo is engaged. Cosmetically this amp is in good condition, with some oxidation on the interior, tears and scratches on the tolex and the metal grill cloth is a little bent in. All in all, very good condition for it's vintage and odd rarity. This is a great example of the potential of solid state amplifiers, with sweet and incredibly balanced tone and little attitude or act-up. This is a great amp for a collector of more oddball things, or honestly a fantastic players amp as it makes very little passive noise and has excellent tone.
