DeArmond M72 “Bluesbird” Transparent Black Flame Top
At its heart the DeArmond M72 is a re-imagination of the venerable Guild Bluesbird crafted in the 1960s. This batch was manufactured by Fender in the early 2000s, and outfitted in style with a Mahogany body and neck, flame maple top, and bound rosewood fretboard. The M72 also features a tune-o-matic stopbar tailpiece, Gotoh style tuners, and volume/tone controls for each USA made pickup. The pickups are Gold Tone HBs, and sound the sonic equivalent of honey. This one weighs in at a sturdy 8.95lbs and is in great shape. Some minor fret wear, finish swirling, and other normal signs of minor wear, but this one is set up and good to go.
Tone is sweet, saturated and dripping with lush harmonics and a ringing sustain. The M72 is resonant, dynamic, and highly responsive to playing technique and volume control. Clean tones are full and gorgeous, with a smooth response that opens up to grit and saturation when pushed through hotter tubes. The DeArmond M72 is a perfect choice for anyone looking for high class tone and easy playability, and would make a fantastic addition to any musician’s sonic arsenal.
