Fender Hot Rod Deville 212Fender
This Mexican made Fender Hot Rod Deville is a true road warrior. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, the good ones get played and this one has been on it's share of late night, rocking, bar room brouhahas. First, there's the obvious wear to the tolex on the upper front cabinet corners. It's been plain worn to the wood. There are also other scratches, scuffs, dings and chips. There's some light fraying to the grill cloth and also tarnishing on the face plate and hardware. This amp has enough power and volume to drown out a jet engine. Pushing 60 watts through a pair of Eminence / Fender 12" speakers, this Hot Rod uses dual 6L6's to generate the torque. This one seems a bit warmer tonally than other Hot Rod Devilles that we've had. The clean tone is classic Fender bell-like chime with a crystal clear, Blackface voice. Overdriven (And there's a LOT of gain on tap!), it gets crunchy and aggressive with a biting, raspy top end. Considering Fender's charging almost $1k street for this amp now, this is a great deal if you don't mind the mojo.
