Fender Super Sonic 22 Surf Green 2006Fender
This is something that you don't see every day. This baby would look right at home on the bandstand, circa 1964! Decked out in gaudy Surf Green Tolex with pinup decals, this Super Sonic is most definitely not for the bashful or squeamish. As if all of this eye appeal isn't enough, this Super Sonic has upgraded tubes and WGS ET-90 speaker. The beauty certainly goes beyond skin deep.
The clean channel is sublime with classic Fender bell-like chime, clarity and delicacy. The fat switch adds midrange girth and brings the amp into more of a Tweed voicing. The overdrive channel is pure magic with a smooth, vocal, singing lead tone that's very "Boogie" like.
Not everything on this amp is perfect, however. There is some wear and tear from being gigged pretty heavily for more than a decade. There are various scuffs, scratches, dings and small chips. Fender would call it a "Relic". The lower front speaker baffle has some cracking / fracturing as if the amp has fallen over at some point. There are some aftermarket tilt back legs to angle the amp backwards for better sound dispersion. This could be a pro or a con depending on your personal opinions.
The amp includes it's original foot switch. Here's the specs;
Deluxe Reverb power platform,
Vintage channel contains pre-gain tone controls and two switchable voices
Burn channel contains dual gain controls and post-gain EQ
Fender long-spring Reverb by Accutronics
Ivory "radio" knobs
4-button footswitch for Channel, Fat, Reverb, Effects Loop.
