Fender Tremolux 1966-1967 Black Face Vintage Guitar AmpFender
For sale is an incredible vintage Fender amplifier head and cabinet combo. This model, the Tremolux, is essentially a smaller brother to the Bandmaster amplifiers of the era. The blackface Tremolux and Bandmaster (AB763) are almost identical amps, just that the Tremolux is sized for smaller events and gigs. The Tremolux has a tube rectifier, while the blackface Bandmaster has diode. Both amps have tremolo but no reverb. The Tremolux speaker cabinet is 2×10″ and not 2×12″. The Tremolux has smaller transformers (power and output) than the Bassman and Bandmaster. All these things add up to an amp with less volume, less clean headroom and more sag/compression; a more forgiving tone. This simpler circuit makes this amp incredibly straightforward, and might be the most useable of the vintage Fender heads for the modern world. It has glassy cleans that Fender is revered for, and has very malleable tone between the two channels and the tone stacks. This amp does hit a sweet spot when cranked up a little bit, but still has to get incredibly loud to get there. Cosmetically this amplifier is in very good condition, the interior of the cabinet is excellently clean, the tolex has a few scratches and is slightly separating in a few spots. The head is missing the back cover. The amplifier has had standard maintenance done to it and done well. The speakers have been swapped out for Weber Alnico Classics and the head has a 3-prong grounded power cable installed as well. This is a truly fantastic vintage combo in great playing shape, excellent tonality, and a truly unbeatable Fender sensibility and aesthetic. This vintage amp is a real killer and you'd be hard pressed to find a better amplifier, new or vintage, than this. Please inquire with any other questions you might have.
