Gibson Les Paul 1960 Classic c.1997Gibson
This Gibson Les Paul 1960 Classic is an absolute bulldozer of a guitar! Weighing in at a dense 10 lb. 4 oz., this wicked Lester has enough cajones to pack a serious heavyweight punch. The thick midrange, relaxed highs and overall smoothness give this guitar a very "vocal" tonality. This one is a killer player and has a low, easy action and a slim 60's taper neck profile for the ultimate in high speed fretting gymnastics. Much like the other 1960 Classic that we have in stock, this was a model that was similar in specs to Gibson's Historic 1960 Reissue without the associated cost. The specs are "classic" Gibson; mahogany back, set mahogany neck, carved maple top, rosewood fingerboard, Kluson style tuners, Tune-O-Matic bridge and dual humbuckers. The honey burst nitrocellulose lacquer finish only adds to the vintage vibe. This one is in pretty good condition. There are some light fret divots on the first couple of frets, some light scratches, swirling and a few small impressions. The knobs have been changed along with the pickups. The previous owner couldn't remember exactly which pickups they were but was pretty sure that they were '57 Classics. Either way, they sound awesome! Overall, quite good for a guitar over 20 years old! No cracks or breaks. In a nutshell, this is a Jimmy Page look-a-like for about a quarter of the price.
