Gibson 1960 Les Paul Classic Series (1999)Gibson
The Gibson Les Paul has long been regarded as the "Hammer Of Thor" in the rock guitar world. The long list of endorsers reads like a "who's who?" from the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Clapton, Beck, Bloomfield, Kossoff, Green, Page...The elite of rock royalty have cut their teeth on the legendary Lester tone. This Gibson 1960 Les Paul Classic is from 1999 and was something of a more cost effective version of Gibson's Historic 1960 reissue. All the looks and tone at half the price. This one sports a slim taper 60's neck profile, a sharp cherry sunburst finish, Kluson style tuners and a ton and a half of whoop ass. This Les Paul weighs in at a reasonable 9 lb. 6 oz. and has been a total road dog with the vibe and wear to prove it. There are dozens of small dings, chips, impressions and buckle wear. The frets also show some light wear. You've heard that old cliché "The good ones get played." This is what they had in mind. They good news is that there's no cracks, breaks or repairs. She's solid. This one has also been upgraded with a set of Gibson Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups out of a Gibson R9 and they sound stellar. All of the classic Les Paul tones are in here; buttery smooth neck pickup, reedy, jangly middle position and a sweet yet biting bridge pickup. Don't have the cash for a Gibson VOS or True Historic? No problem. Birdhouse has you covered with this 1960 Les Paul Classic.
