Hondo II Professional TelecasterHondo II
If you keep your eyes open, you are sure to find a diamond in the haystack every now and then. Those "in the know” will recognize this Hondo II Professional as the unassuming gem that it is. Hondo II Pro guitars were built in the Tokai factory in Japan in the early 1980s alongside some of the best guitars ever produced. It may have a modest look and humble headstock, this Hondo is built like a howitzer and bears all the markings of a high quality Japanese guitar. Weighing in at a sturdy 8.4 lbs, this guitar features a walnut finish, maple neck, fender style tuners, and a pair of Japanese pickups that rank among the best we've heard. Tone is sweet, dynamic, bright, and full, with a round and supple neck pickup, and plenty of bright twang in the bridge position. This one is well worn, but in good shape for the modern player. If you're looking for a masterfully crafted vintage instrument, and care less about headstocks and more about playability and sweet, sweet tone, this Hondo is a seriously feasible contender.
