Lowden L34 Jumbo Flat Top Acoustic Guitar with OHSCLowden
This guitar is a pinnacle of workmanship; in every detail about this instrument it's evident that painstaking deliberation went into each step before shaping the wood. Featuring a smaller jumbo-sized body (the lower bout measures 16-3/8" across) with a Sitka Spruce top, five piece Mahogony neck topped with an Ebony fretboard, and solid Brazilian Rosewood back, sides, headstock veneer and backstrap, as well. Every edge of the body is also tied together with multi-layered wooden purfling, the rosette also shares the same style purfling but is also is accompianed by an abalone inlay as well. Also interestingly enough, the soundhole features a doubling ring on the underside of the top that's camfered towards the opening as to appear as one piece of wood. The volute on the back of the neck is also very elaborately executed; it's shaped in an oddly intuitive fashion that's multi-angular and fits to the contours of a hand incredibly well. In true Lowden fashion it also features the split saddle on the bridge for more accurate intonation and the clear finished-in pickguard that hugs the top like they're best friends. Sonically this guitar is a force to be reckoned with; it has a deep and concentrated low end that you can feel in your ribs and an upper end that sustains with momentum as if it's a sailboat with the wind at it's back. It's also amazingly dynamic - you've got to strum with a great deal of bravado to reach the roof of it's volume, but alternatively it can be played at next to no volume while maintaining the tonal integrity of what this is designed to output. The action is very low down the length of the neck and the neck has just the right amount of relief in it. Cosmetically there's a small patch of scratching on the side of the lower bout's treble side and also the top had previously separated at the center seam. It's since been professionally repaired and is in a solid way now. It's also included with the original hardshell case, as well. At the end of the day this may just be the highest quality, best sounding, and easiest playing acoustic we've seen come through the shop in years now. Don't miss out!
