Squier '51 Electric Guitar CustomizedSquier
This Squier 51 is a total hot rod! It has something of a "Duck Billed Platypus" appearance as it's an amalgamation of several different types of guitars. This fusion of parts combine to form a guitar with killer tone and playability. Here, an original Squier neck has been mated to a later Squier 51 "string through" body with a modified P-Bass pickguard. This is a plus as the original '51 had a top loader bridge which hurts sustain. The original style '51 P-Bass control panel has been ditched in favor of a traditional Telecaster control layout which includes a 3-way switch with independent volume and tone controls. Another plus as far as functionality and ease of use go. A Tele neck pickup replaces the original ceramic magnet neck pickup and combines with an upgraded bridge humbucker to form an awesome duo. The slim "C" profile neck feels lithe and quick and the action is low and spongy. This guitar was made to rip! The Telecaster neck pickup is warm yet still bright and cutting with a hint of "Stratty-ness". The bridge humbucker is also clear and articulate but has a wonderful and fluid vocal-like tone under some overdrive. The middle position setting has the pickups wired out of phase to get all of those awesome T-Bone Walker tones! Weighing in at a light 7 lb. 8 oz., this 51 is a clean machine. It shows no fret wear to speak of and play wear is minimal, almost to the point of being non-existent. There's only some light finish swirling present. The headstock is missing the Squier logo. This is a seriously fun guitar to play that sounds good through every amp we pump it through.
