Standel The Artist XII A12B Vintage AmpliferStandel
This is a super rare, 1960's Standel Artist XII solid state amplifier. This is a dual purpose amplifier with channel inputs for both bass and electric guitars with independent volume and concentric bass/treble controls for each channel. According to the back panel, the amp is rated at 140 watts. The speaker is a SS-115 15" speaker. The tone is uncolored and clear with a bit of hi-fi character, a great blank canvas for pedal experimentation. There's just enough warmth to give the amp a "tube-like" feel. At the high end of the volume knob, you can get a bit of brash, garage rock type of distortion but high gain is not this amp's bag, baby. It's in very good condition for it's age with a medium sized tear on the lower cabinet edge and some overall scuffing. It appears to have had side casters affixed to the cabinet at one point (good idea, it weighs a ton!). This was the 1960's version of a boutique amp and an early entry into the world of solid state amplifiers.
