Vintage 1965 Fender Princeton AmpFender
This is an unusual and incredibly versatile vintage Fender Princeton that's had some useful modifications to really improve it's range. The actual amplifier was built in 1965 and bears serial number A05925. The cabinet is a custom built unit that's slightly taller than a typical Princeton cab. It's built to house a 12" speaker and is a ported design, very similar to a Thiele cabinet. The ported design goes a long way to more efficiently dispersing the sound, making this Princeton louder and with a larger sound stage than the standard Fender design. The 12" University Sound speaker makes this Princeton ideal for all but the loudest gigs. The tone is warm and full but it never seems to lose that Fender "Blackface" sparkle. Classic Princeton, only louder. All of that extra volume and power never comes at the expense of weight as this Princeton is still wonderfully light and eminently portable. The overall condition is very good. The grill cloth is still nice with no runs or tears. The tolex is clean without heavy wear and shows only some light scratches. The white of the two colors has started to yellow a bit, taking on a cool, vintage patina. If you love the sound of Blackface era Princetons and only wished they were a touch louder, we may have your amp right here!
