Vintage Electra Custom Les Paul Made in Japan 1970s
If you’re at all familiar with ‘70s MIJ guitars you already know what to expect from this Electra Custom Les Paul. Japanese guitars from the 1970s have become go-to instruments for musicians looking for player-grade vintage guitars at a more reasonable price point - and for good reason! Japanese guitar manufacturers were onto something special in this day and age, and many of the clones produced in this era are some of the finest guitars ever built. This Electra plays as well as any lawsuit Lester we’ve had in the shop, and sounds sweet when you strum and powerful when you hit the throttle. This particular LP weighs in at 8lbs 12oz and features lawsuit era specs such as the distinctive “Gibson” headstock and trademarked headstock logo, trapazoid inlays, a mahogany body and flame maple top, cream binding and powerful sounding pickups. The guitar departs from classic Gibson appointments with a tummy cut, two piece body, and bolt on neck. The finish is beginning to check in some areas, the pickguard has a crack on the right hand side, and there are some dings and dents marking the guitar, but other than that this guitar is in good condition.
Tone is sweet and powerful. The neck pickup is warm and buttery, with a creamy character and a smooth finish. The bridge pickup brightens up with that distinctive les paul midrange and power. When pushed a little harder, these pickups have plenty of room to roar. Overall this is a killer guitar that would be perfect for a vintage enthusiast looking for a Lester for less.
