Vintage Fender Eighty-Five Amp 1980sFender
The Eighty Five amplifier was conceived during an era of high innovation at Fender. With Paul Rivera at the helm of marketing and with Mesa Boogie eating into their amp sales, Fender unleashed several new and redesigned models to compete. The Eighty Five is an 85 watt (Did you figure that part out yet?) 1x12 solid state amplifier that boasts clean and overdrive channels, effects loop and reverb. The amp also features a mid boost, gain control and limiter to adjust overdrive compression. The tone stack circuitry is situated post overdrive to better control and dial in your sound. This amp is lightweight, compact and frighteningly loud. I can't think of a gig you couldn't play with this one. The clean tone is deep, warm and full, just exceptional sounding for jazz or clean blues. The overdrive is expressive, responsive and very "Boogie-like" meaning it's rich and vocal. It's a killer fusion tone! The overall condition is very clean and the amp shows very little wear for an amp about 30 years old. Whether you're seeking a different tonal flavor or a cost effective, versatile gigging tool, the Fender Eighty Five is an absolute steal!
